NIOC head: $30b invested by foreigners in oil, gas sector

MOSCOW (IRNA)--Head of the National Iranian Oil Company (NIOC) Seifollah Jashnsaz said in Moscow that $30 billion has been invested in the oil and gas sectors by foreigners since March 2008.
He said several European and Asian countries including Italy and China have made investment in Iran’s oil and gas sectors.“Ways of expanding bilateral cooperation and making investment in Iran will be discussed with Russian officials during my two-day visit,” he said.
Jashnsaz underlined that the Russian side has voiced willingness to boost cooperation with the Islamic Republic of Iran.
According to him, the trend of finalizing gas-oil MOU signed on July 18 by the NIOC and Gazprom will also be discussed.
Jashnsaz visit’s is taking place upon the invitation of Alexey Miller, chairman of the Management Committee of OAO Gazprom.
Based on the MOU, NIOC and Gazprom will cooperate in development of various oil and gas fields in Iran.
The two sides are also committed to cooperate in the development of Iran’s North Azadegan oil field, the transfer of oil from the Caspian Sea to the Oman Sea, swap of Russian gas, technology transfer, and the construction of a refinery in northern Iran.
Gazprom will also participate in the Iran-Pakistan-India gas pipeline project.
